Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed that Ruben Amorim is “doing his best” as manager of Manchester United, but admitted it is unrealistic to expect the Portuguese coach to perform “miracles.”
Ronaldo became one of the world’s top footballers during his first spell at Old Trafford and won his first Ballon d’Or while at the club before transferring to Real Madrid in 2009. He returned to the English club in 2021 at the age of 40. Despite impressive goal-scoring for his age, his second tenure ended on a sour note following disagreements with then-manager Erik ten Hag.
Throughout the past decade, Manchester United have faced a difficult period, including their worst Premier League finish last season under Amorim’s leadership. However, Ronaldo discussed his compatriot’s efforts and sees reasons for cautious optimism.
“He’s [Amorim] doing his best,” said Ronaldo. “We say in Portugal, ‘Miracles are only in Fatima’... And he’s not gonna do miracles. They have good players but they don’t have, some of them, in mind what Manchester United is.”
Cristiano Ronaldo acknowledges Ruben Amorim’s efforts at Manchester United but emphasizes the need for time and realistic expectations to improve the club’s current situation.
