Nikola Jokic dominated with 32 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 assists, marking his sixth triple-double in nine games this season. He led the Denver Nuggets to a 117-100 victory against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night, completing a four-game homestand sweep.
The Nuggets played without key players Jamal Murray, sidelined due to left calf tightness, and Aaron Gordon, out with a left hamstring injury. Denver coach David Adelman emphasized caution with Gordon, noting:
“If he feels something that can turn into something worse, there is a little bit of apprehension. Aaron’s a guy we have to protect … because there’s just not that many human beings that are that big and jump that high and explode like that.”
Replacements Jalen Pickett and Peyton Watson started the game, with Watson scoring a season-high 16 points. Gordon, who missed 31 games last year, is averaging a career-best 20.1 points this season.
Indiana continued their rough start, losing their eighth game in nine contests. They had Andrew Nembhard return after a left shoulder strain sidelined him for seven games. Nembhard contributed 22 points, while Aaron Nesmith led the Pacers with 25 points.
Recently signed Monte Morris played 15 minutes, scoring one point.
Despite a depleted roster, the Nuggets relied on Jokic’s all-around brilliance and smart squad adjustments to secure the win.
