The Boston Bruins extended their winning streak to six games with a 5-3 victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night at Scotiabank Arena.
Former Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten scored the decisive goal with less than four minutes remaining, ensuring the Bruins held on to their 4-3 lead despite Toronto's intense pressure in the third period.
"That’s my goal as a player. I want to be out there playing, so continuing to build on that and earn that trust and earn those minutes, that’s why I play the game." – Fraser Minten
Minten, acquired from Toronto in the trade involving Brandon Carlo last year, has earned the confidence of Bruins coach Marco Sturm. Primarily centering the third line, he often steps up to the top line during crucial moments. Sturm named Minten the player of the game for his impactful performance.
The game almost shifted after William Nylander’s shot hit both the crossbar and post before bouncing away. Despite fans briefly celebrating what appeared to be a goal, the shot didn’t count, allowing Boston to maintain their lead.
"Nylander’s double doinked a golden chance, his shot ricocheting off the crossbar and then the post before shooting out into the corner."
Fraser Minten’s late heroics highlight his growing importance to the Bruins as they ride a six-game winning streak, their best start so far in the 2023-24 season.
