Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling has announced the passing of “Silent” Brian Mackney, a respected alumni and legend within the Toronto wrestling community.
“MAPLE LEAF PRO is saddened to hear of the passing today of ‘Silent’ Brian Mackney, a Maple Leaf Wrestling alumni and legend in Toronto.”
Known as “Silent” Brian for his remarkable ability to succeed as a deaf professional wrestler, Mackney captured the admiration of fans in Toronto during the 1970s and 1980s. His skill and determination carried him across the world to compete with New Japan Pro Wrestling, All-Japan Pro Wrestling, and multiple territories of the NWA, including Mid-Atlantic.
When the WWF later took over the Toronto territory, Mackney continued performing under Vince McMahon for several years, demonstrating his resilience and professionalism throughout every stage of his career.
Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling expressed gratitude for having Mackney in attendance at their May event at the historic Maple Leaf Gardens, acknowledging his enduring place in the promotion’s history.
