At 33, veteran winger Brendan Gallagher is facing a tough stretch this season after scoring 21 goals last year, placing third among the Canadiens' top scorers behind Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki. So far, he hasn’t found the back of the net once in the first 13 games.
Last season, Gallagher had already scored five goals after 13 games and seven after 15, showing a stronger start. Despite this season’s scoring slump, he’s contributed with seven assists, keeping his play valuable in other ways.
“How much of a concern is the winger’s lack of goal-scoring?”
This key question was discussed in a special Hockey Inside/Out bonus episode, where The Gazette’s Stu Cowan spoke with former Canadiens teammates and 1986 Stanley Cup champions Chris Nilan and Rick Green. Two additional bonus episodes are expected soon, encouraging fans to subscribe to the Hockey Inside/Out YouTube channel for updates.
Gallagher’s goal drought may worry fans, but his playmaking still shows his importance to Montreal’s lineup.
