Karrueche Tran is officially adding “rapper” to her repertoire. Known as an Emmy Award-winning actress, beauty mogul, and fashion icon, she now stars as a platinum-selling rapper in Lifetime’s original film Terry McMillan Presents: Preach, Pray, Love, premiering Saturday, November 8.
The story follows Charlisa “Charlie” Jones, portrayed by Tran, a platinum-selling rapper whose bold personality and fiery lyrics attract more attention than harmony. After serving time in prison, Charlie begins court-ordered community service under Pastor Kyrus Owens (Mark J.P. Hood), a passionate minister working to fundraise for a new church building.
This film offers Karrueche her most musically adventurous role so far. Speaking at the Raising Cane’s Giant Pumpkin Unveiling Event in Hollywood, she shared her experience preparing for the role:
“I’m not musically inclined in any way, but it was a great challenge. I studied a rapper named Lola Brooke, I prepared myself, and I did it.”
Karrueche Tran embraces a challenging new role as a rapper, showcasing growth and dedication in Lifetime’s Preach, Pray, Love, where faith and redemption meet fame’s harsh light.
