Star Wars Visions Review: “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope”

After the original “The Ninth Jedi” short left an unforgettable impact, the announcement of a full series in 2026 is still exciting. Meanwhile, Production IG returns for Star Wars: Visions Vol. 3 with director Naoyoshi Shiotani’s “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope.” This intriguing follow-up expands the world of the original short and gives a glimpse into what the upcoming series might offer.

While I enjoyed “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope,” it felt more like a bridge from the standalone short to the limited series, Star Wars: Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi. I would have preferred if this story served as the opening episode of the new series, as it shifts from the usual Visions style.

Visions Vol. 3 also includes “The Duel: Payback,” which was our first look at how sequel episodes might be handled. Like the original short, it is self-contained but builds on previous events. A later episode in the volume will conclude this sequel arc.

“The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope” expands the short’s world and pushes us towards what the series might be like.
“The Duel: Payback” was our first experience of how a sequel episode would be handled in Vol. 3.

Summary: “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope” successfully bridges the original short and the upcoming series, offering fans hope and excitement for the new Star Wars Visions episodes in 2026.
