A massive tornado tore through the town of Rio Bonito do Iguaçu in Brazil’s Paraná state, killing at least six people and injuring about 750, according to local authorities.
The powerful twister struck with winds reaching up to 250 km per hour, destroying nearly 90% of the town, including homes and schools. Cars were overturned, and buildings were flattened in just a few minutes of devastation.
"I arrived home and found myself without a roof over my head," said 51-year-old Nereu Sabadini. "I’m homeless and rebuilding will take some time."
Aerial images revealed a landscape of destruction, with entire blocks reduced to rubble and debris scattered across the town. Shocked residents searched through the remains of their homes, trying to retrieve personal belongings.
"It destroyed the town, houses, schools. What will become of us?" said Roselei Dalcandon, standing beside what was once her shop.
Emergency services have been deployed to assist survivors and begin recovery efforts as the community faces the enormous task of rebuilding almost from scratch.
