Detroit Pistons star Cade Cunningham is showing why he was the first overall pick, with NBA legend Steve Nash highlighting one standout ability: his passing.
Cunningham is averaging 25.6 points, 9.7 assists, and 4.8 rebounds over nine games, playing a key role as Detroit leads the Eastern Conference early in the season.
“I actually want to give a nod to Cade’s passing,” Nash said. “You know, we always knew he’s a playmaker, he can make plays for others, of course, makes his teammates better, but I feel like he’s even taken another step.”
Nash praised Cunningham’s diverse passing range and control:
“He’s kind of gotten every pass in his bag now, and it’s really impressive to watch him have command, and you can’t speed him up with his size.”
The guard is shooting 46.6% from the field in these games, leading the Pistons to a 7-2 record and the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
Cunningham's leadership and playmaking have been vital in the Pistons’ notable turnaround from their 14-68 record last season.
Steve Nash commends Cade Cunningham’s evolution into an elite playmaker, instrumental in Detroit’s strong season opening.
