BBC presenter Sara Cox is preparing for one of the longest Children in Need challenges ever to raise funds for the annual campaign. She will start her journey at a famous Northumberland location that gained attention this year as the setting of a number one movie.
Sara, formerly a Radio 1 presenter and currently hosting Radio 2 at Tea Time and the station's Book Club, will cover the distance of five marathons in five days. Her route spans from Northumberland to Pudsey, near Leeds, where she will meet the iconic Children in Need bear.
The challenge will kick off in the scenic Kielder Forest, known globally after featuring in key scenes of the zombie thriller 28 Years Later. The film was directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle, who shot extensively in the North East last year.
"Sara will run, jog, and walk across four counties while carrying a very special Pudsey Bear backpack."
This Great Northern Marathon Challenge highlights Sara’s dedication to Children in Need and showcases the stunning landscapes of northern England.
Summary: Sara Cox embarks on an epic 135-mile journey across northern England for Children in Need, starting in the iconic Kielder Forest and finishing near Leeds with the Pudsey Bear.
