Renowned actor and performer Alan Cumming has shared details about his latest cultural venture — a new LGBTQ+ arts festival set in the scenic Highlands of Scotland. The event, titled Out In The Hills, will be hosted by the Pitlochry Festival Theatre, where Cumming serves as artistic director.
Cumming, best known for hosting The Traitors and running his New York City cabaret venue Club Cumming, took on the role of artistic director at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre in early 2025. His first season of programming is scheduled to begin in early 2026, with the queer arts festival as a key highlight.
The festival will unfold from January 16 to 18, 2026, in the Perthshire Highlands, about two hours north of Edinburgh. Located beside the River Tummel and beneath the striking Ben-y-Vrackie mountain, the venue offers a dramatic natural backdrop perfect for winter performances.
“Out In The Hills offers a unique opportunity to enjoy some theatrical queer life away from the summer Pride season.”
Joining Cumming and Norton will be celebrated author Armistead Maupin, emphasizing the festival’s blend of performance, dialogue, and community celebration.
Alan Cumming’s Out In The Hills festival blends theatre, queer identity, and Scottish landscape into a vibrant winter celebration of creativity and connection.
