Westland Relocates Fire Station 4

Westland is relocating Fire Station 4 to a new location east of the train tracks to improve emergency response times.

According to city officials, the project will not incur any additional costs to taxpayers.

"It served the community well, but it's outgrown both in run volume and in space," - Fire Chief Darrell Stamper said.

The new station will be located on Cherry Hill Road, just west of Newburgh Road, providing a strategic advantage by being east of the train tracks that have long delayed emergency crews.

Mayor Kevin Coleman explained that the new location will still serve the south end of the city, but with improved response times.
