Mayo FC has been allocated two full-time staff as part of the Budget 2026 announcement, which will contribute to the club's future growth.
The roles, yet to be specified, will increase the total number of full-time staff in Irish soccer academies from 10 to over 60.
Following Brexit, Irish players are having to wait until they are 18 to make the move to England to play the game, and this announcement will help towards the development of players here at home.
Mayo FC Chairman, Joe Faughnan, has welcomed the news, suspecting the roles will be filled by an Academy Manager and Director of Coaching.
This development is expected to benefit Irish soccer, particularly for clubs competing at the top level.
