Close to 3,400 people in Freeborn County will lose access to SNAP or MFIP benefits starting in November if the federal government shutdown continues, according to Freeborn County Human Services Director Suzi Nerison.

Nerison informed the Board of Commissioners on Tuesday that she received an email from Tikki Brown, commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families, stating that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has directed states to hold November issuance files and delay transmission to state EBT vendors until further notice.
