Paul Podbury: A Shining Example
Paul Podbury, co-president of the Woodend-Hesket Football Netball Club, has been named the 2025 AFL Victoria Metropolitan Community Volunteer of the Year.
He received the award at Ikon Park, where he was met with sustained applause. Podbury, also known as "Pods," said it was
"very humbling … but nice to be recognised"at this level.
His wife, Anya, and representatives from the Riddell District Football Netball League attended the function to show their support.
As a well-known Woodend businessman and accountant, Podbury is a strong believer in the value of volunteerism, setting a
"shining example"for others to follow.
