State GOP Leaders Shut Down Kansas Young Republicans Chapter
GOP leaders in Kansas are shutting down the state's Young Republicans chapter after leaked chats revealed racist and antisemitic messages.
The messages, exchanged via Telegram among thousands of young GOP leaders nationwide, were reported by Politico. Two Kansas Young Republican leaders, Chair Alex Dwyer and Vice Chair Will Hendrix, were named in the report.
They referred to Black people as monkeys and “the watermelon people” and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.
Politico noted that leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country were worried about the potential consequences of their Telegram chat being leaked.
