Thanksgiving Dinner and Grocery Hampers for Those in Need
The Yellowknife Salvation Army had a big weekend, providing Thanksgiving dinner to those in need.
Approximately 250 people attended a traditional turkey meal, served restaurant-style, with orders taken and delivered to tables.
"We served them restaurant style — having them take a seat and we had somebody come take their order and deliver everything to the table for them. Everybody seemed to appreciate the service and the food,"
said Tony Brushett, executive director of the Yellowknife Salvation Army.
- 600 hampers were sold, raising close to $20,000 for groceries to support the food bank.
- An additional $1,000 was donated, going toward food security programs.
"It was a busy weekend, but a very successful weekend,"
said Brushett.
