Automaker Stellantis is relocating production of its Jeep Compass vehicle from Brampton, Ontario to Illinois, USA, due to tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.
Stellantis had previously halted work on the Jeep Compass at its Ontario plant amidst tariff threats. However, the company has now decided to shift production to its Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois after investing $600 million.
With an initial production launch expected in 2027, these actions are anticipated to create around 3,300 new jobs (in America),
This move is part of a larger $13 billion investment in the US, expected to create over 5,000 jobs.
