Trowbridge car park decision to undergo 'urgent scrutiny'

Trowbridge Car Park Decision Undergoes Urgent Scrutiny

A decision by Wiltshire Council's Cabinet to transfer ownership of St Stephen's multi-storey car park in Trowbridge to the owner of the adjoining Castle Place shopping centre will undergo "urgent scrutiny" after being challenged by the Conservative opposition.

Following the intervention by the Conservative group, the Overview & Scrutiny Management Committee has 'called in' the matter, and an extraordinary meeting of the committee will be held on Thursday, October 16.

The Liberal Democrat administration voted for the asset transfer at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, October 7. Part of the deal was agreed behind closed doors but will need to be ratified by full council at a date yet to be determined.
