The provincial government is planning to introduce a new design for licence plates, with a theme of "Strong and Free", which reflects Alberta's identity, economic strength, and provincial pride.
According to the government, this theme echoes the province's Latin motto and serves as a nod to Canada's national anthem and Alberta's position within a united Canada.
From now until November 15, Albertans can vote online for one of eight unique designs that incorporate the province's landscape and history.
The new licence plates will be introduced in 2026, marking the first change since 1984.
The motto's inclusion on the licence plates will also serve as a nod to Canada's national anthem and Alberta's position as a strong and sovereign province within a united Canada.
