Greater Sudbury Committee Agrees to Increase Speed Limit
A committee in Greater Sudbury has voted to increase the speed limit on parts of Municipal Road 15.
City councillors noted that the current slower speed was frustrating drivers, particularly those trying to avoid truck traffic along the route.
- The speed limit will increase from 60 km/hour to 70 km/hour from MR35 to the Martin Road area.
- The speed limit will also increase from 60 km/hour to 70 km/hour from Menard Street to Belisle Drive.
- However, in the densest part of Blezard Valley and between Belisle and MR80, the speed limit will remain at 60 km/hour, or 40 km/hour where there are schools.
Residents had expressed concerns that the current speed limit was too low for the conditions of MR15, prompting the committee's decision.
