A constitutional petition filed by Lee Jin-sook, former chair of the Korea Communications Commission (KCC), has been referred to a formal review by the Constitutional Court.
The petition challenges the legality of a new law that dismantled the KCC, the state telecommunications regulator, and establishes the Korea Media and Communications Commission (KMCC) instead.
The Constitutional Court decided to hold a formal review on Lee's petition, which was registered on Oct. 1 following the enactment of the government reorganization bill.
Lee was automatically removed from her KCC post with the launch of the KMCC on Oct.
