It's been a historic career for the Kapaun Crusader, and she knows there is still more ahead.
The Kapaun Crusaders girls golf team will be competing for their sixth consecutive state championship in Emporia next week. According to Kapaun head coach Marie Taylor, "They want to keep it going. I think they just have pride in what has been built and they just want to continue the legacy that we have."

After three consecutive team titles in class 5A, the Crusaders added a new piece that insured success wasn’t going away anytime soon: then freshman Ximena Sarinana. Coach Taylor recalled, "I introduced myself to her and I slyly asked ‘Hey, are you any good?’ She said ‘Yeah, I’m pretty good.’ ... Lo and behold man, she was everything if not more."

Sarinana won state in class 5A as a freshman. She said,
"I wouldn’t say I surprised myself but it was definitely like, wow that really happened,"
