Nor'easter Wipes Out Newly Replenished Beaches
The beaches of Bay Head, after a summer of renourishment, suffered significant erosion when a nor'easter battered the shore early this week.
A nor'easter storm brought wind gusts of upward of 60 mph and roughly three inches of rainfall to New Jersey on Sunday and Monday, flooding and battering many parts of the state. Waves reached upward of 10 feet in the two-day storm.
Throughout Ocean County, most towns reported minor flooding and little damage. In Bay Head, excluding the beaches, there was no significant flooding or damage, with only a few downed wires and sporadic power outages that were fixed relatively quickly, according to Mayor Bill Curtis.
He credits this to the way the wind was blowing, keeping the water off the roadways.
