Council Criticized for Lack of School Traffic Warden
Independent Councillor Charlie Farrelly proposed a motion for a school traffic warden on College Road, Castleisland, during school hours.
The area, with three schools, becomes congested and hazardous for pedestrians, according to Cllr Farrelly.
Earlier this year, the council's road safety officer assessed the location and noted the dangers.
The council stated that there is no current budget provision for a school warden, but will conduct a feasibility study for the next budget.
Cllr Farrelly deemed this response unacceptable, given the road safety officer's firsthand observation of the issues.
