Good Fortune is a witty comedy that features a terrific performance by Keanu Reeves, although it is more witty than laugh-out-loud funny.
The film, a prince-and-the-pauper-style fable, stars Aziz Ansari as Arj, a character living out of his car, which creates an immediate dissonance due to Ansari's well-known wealth and light presence on screen.
Ansari's character experiences economic distress, taking on odd jobs, food delivery, and part-time shifts, but he seems more irritably inconvenienced than deeply weary.
It’s not that Hollywood actors we know to be well off can’t be convincing embodying characters experiencing economic distress.
Keanu Reeves' performance lifts the gentle comedy, making Good Fortune an enjoyable watch.
