Sunday Trading: Better Abolished than Relaxed

Recently, the Government proposed increasing Sunday trading hours, allegedly to appease large businesses facing a tax hike.

However, after public outcry, the Government indicated it was merely "flying a kite" to gauge opinions, and not seriously considering the change.

As a result, the current restriction remains: large retailers and supermarkets can open for no more than six consecutive hours on Sundays.

We agree that a day of rest is good, and that we should not be compelled to work on Sundays.
