Sir David Attenborough Breaks Record as Oldest Daytime Emmy Winner

Sir David Attenborough, 99, has broken the record for the oldest winner of a Daytime Emmy, previously held by Dick Van Dyke, who was 98 when he won in 2024.

Sir David won the award for daytime personality, non-daily, as host of Netflix's Secret Lives of Orangutans, but was not present to collect it.

“My mom always loved soaps and she loved villains,” said Paul Telfer. “She’s been gone for over 20 years, and so to win this on a soap opera playing the villain is really amazing. Thanks, Mom.”

Author's summary: Sir David Attenborough wins Daytime Emmy at 99.
