Danville Police Arrest Man Wanted in Brandishing, Assault Incident

The Danville Police Department has arrested a suspect wanted in a brandishing and assault incident.

61-year-old James Chappell was taken into custody on Friday and charged with two counts of brandishing a firearm and one count of simple assault.

The incident occurred on Thursday at 12:58 p.m. when officers responded to a business in the 200 block of Main Street for a report of an assault that included the suspect producing a handgun.

According to the victims, a black male in an orange coverall suit, black hat, and glasses approached them, upset that he believed they laughed at him,
