A large stretch of coastal freeway will be closed due to a Marines Corps live-fire event at Camp Pendleton.
The event is part of the Marine Corps' 250th birthday celebration, which will involve firing artillery over the I-5 Freeway.

The closure will be in effect from Harbor Drive in Oceanside to Basilone Road near San Onofre, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
California Highway Patrol announced the closure, citing the Marine Corps' event as the reason.
This comes after the Marine Corps initially stated that no freeway closure would be necessary.
