Flooding in Southwest Colorado
Heavy rain caused by Hurricane Priscilla led to the evacuation of about 390 households in southwest Colorado.
The storm dropped 4 inches of rain in 48 hours, swelling creeks and flooding communities north of Vallecito Reservoir.
- About 390 homes were evacuated at the north end of Vallecito Reservoir.
- Up to 100 homes have been impacted by the flooding.
- No deaths or major injuries have been reported.
“Typically (for) the water gages on Vallecito Creek, high water is under 3,000 cubic feet per second,” said Sarah Jacobson, public information officer. “This morning it was at 6,800 cubic feet per second.”
