NCC Explains Poor Telecom Service in Lagos, Abuja, and Other Cities

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has attributed the poor quality of telecom service in major cities to inadequate network capacity.

According to the NCC, high-density urban areas experience issues such as dropped video calls, buffering, and slow downloads due to a high density of active internet users.

“Overall, network capacity for data services across the country appears good. However, capacity issues have been observed in urban areas across all major operators,”

The NCC's research findings, in partnership with Ookla, highlight the need for improved network capacity to support heavy usage in urban areas.

Author's summary: NCC attributes poor telecom service to inadequate network capacity.
