Oxford welcomes school pupils and teachers from twin city

Oxford Welcomes Polish School Pupils and Teachers

Oxford has welcomed 23 pupils and teachers from Jakub Jasiński High School No. V in Wrocław, Poland, as part of the Polish Culture Festival.

The visit, which took place from September 19 to 21, aimed to highlight the value of city twinning. Oxford has been a champion of the twinning movement since its inception after the Second World War.

"Oxford is a global, outward-looking city and was among the first to begin city twinning after the Second World War."

Councillor Louise Upton, Lord Mayor of Oxford, emphasized the city's commitment to international partnerships. A book featuring Polish-English fairy tales about Życzliwek, a symbol of kindness, was created with support from the Mayor of Wrocław and the Polish Embassy in London.
