LDU Quito Stuns Palmeiras in Copa Libertadores Semi-Finals
Liga de Quito has delivered a major upset in the CONMEBOL Libertadores semi-finals, defeating favorites Palmeiras 3-0 at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado Stadium.
The Ecuadorian team took advantage of the high altitude in Quito and a dominant first half to leave Palmeiras on the brink of elimination. Gabriel Villamil opened the scoring with a stunning goal in the 15th minute, followed by Lisandro Alzugaray's penalty conversion in the 26th minute.
Villamil sealed his double just before the break, scoring in the 45th minute +1, assisted by Bryan Ramírez, to complete the rout.
