Galamsey Fight: EPA Launches "Reclaim, Restore, Rebuild" Initiative
The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has launched a new initiative, "Reclaim, Restore, Rebuild", to heal lands devastated by illegal mining.
According to the EPA's Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse, the government is determined to reclaim and rehabilitate landscapes ravaged by galamsey operations, which have stripped bare vast stretches of the country's forests, farmlands, and river systems.
The reclamation project we're launching today is a step toward healing the land, restoring livelihoods, and rebuilding hope.
The initiative includes a 2,000-hectare pilot reclamation project at Gyaman Nkwanta in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region, aiming to restore Ghana's ecological integrity and environmental future.
