The Tuolumne County District Attorney's Office has announced that it will receive additional state funding to continue its work on DUI prosecutions.
With a conviction rate of 325 cases, the office has demonstrated its effectiveness in handling such cases with just one employee. The initial grant of $208,238, which was awarded in October 2024, has expired, but the office has successfully applied for a renewal.
The new grant, worth $245,335, will cover the 2025-2026 grant year. According to the District Attorney's Office,
"The District Attorney's Office is excited to continue our specialized focus on improving roadway safety through the next grant year."
The office's success is attributed to the work of a single experienced prosecutor who makes up the entire DUI Prosecution Unit.
