Newsom Vs. Trump 2028: California Governor Considers White House Bid
California Governor Gavin Newsom has been hinting at a presidential run for months, and has now made his intentions slightly more official.
“Yeah, I’d be lying otherwise,”
Newsom told CBS Sunday Morning's Robert Costa, admitting to giving "serious thought" to a White House bid. He added,
“I’d just be lying, and I’m not — I can’t do that,”leaving the decision to
“Fate”to determine if 2028 would be his shot.
Despite testing the waters in Red States and criticizing Donald Trump, Newsom will not make a final decision until the 2026 midterms are over.
