Was Salt Lake City’s ‘No Kings’ protest a success? Organizers look back, and look ahead.

Assessing the Success of Salt Lake City's 'No Kings' Protest

The second "No Kings" protest in Salt Lake City has concluded, and organizers are reflecting on its outcome and planning future steps.

Jamie Carter, one of the organizers, acknowledged the pressure to create a peaceful atmosphere at the Utah Capitol on October 18, where protesters gathered to demonstrate against President Donald Trump and his administration.

Organizers were aware of the risk of violence, given two recent incidents in Utah: the death of fashion designer Afa Ah Loo on June 14, who was fatally shot by an armed security guard during a No Kings march, and the killing of political activist Charlie Kirk on September 10 during a rally at Utah Valley University in Orem.

People attend a “No Kings” rally at the Capitol in Salt Lake City, Saturday, Oct.
