Indiana Democrats are hoping to avoid a congressional redistricting attempt, with a practical deadline approaching.
According to State Representative Maureen Bauer (D-South Bend), the deadline for adopting new maps is near, as
“These maps have to be adopted with enough time for people to run for office in January”.
Bauer emphasized the importance of meeting this deadline, stating that the maps must be drawn by
“the end of November to get them approved and people available to run in those new districts”.
The Trump administration has been urging states to redraw their maps before next year’s midterm elections, in an effort to make them more favorable to Republican candidates.
