Strong by Form to Showcase Ultralight Engineered Wood at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025

Strong by Form has developed a structural floor piece made from ultralight engineered wood, designed to span longer distances than existing options, making it a potential replacement for steel or concrete.

The product is notable for being lighter than steel, concrete, and traditional engineered wood, addressing the significant carbon debt associated with building construction. According to the World Green Building Council, the materials and construction required for buildings contribute 11% of global carbon emissions.

“We’re more into hybrid buildings,”

said Andrés Mitnik, co-founder and CEO of Strong by Form, indicating the company's focus on innovative, sustainable building solutions.

While timber buildings are being explored, particularly in multistory constructions, they are not expected to replace skyscrapers soon. Strong by Form's approach, however, suggests there is still potential for wood to play a significant role in construction.

Author's summary: Strong by Form innovates with ultralight wood.
