The Gideon Bulldogs overcame an early deficit to defeat Bernie 3-1, securing their first district volleyball title since 2021 and a spot in the state tournament.
This was the third meeting between the Gideon Bulldogs and the Bernie Mules this season. The previous meetings saw Gideon sweep the Mules and then lose in five sets. However, this time Gideon emerged victorious, winning 3-1.
After dropping the first set 25-12, head coach Kristen Ashabranner called two timeouts before Bernie reached eight points.
“We couldn’t put anything together,”Ashabranner said.
The win marked a significant milestone for the team, earning them their first district championship since 2021.
