Westminster Voters to Choose Mayor and Councilmembers
Westminster residents will elect a new mayor and three city councilmembers in the upcoming November election.
The city, with a population of around 115,000, has eight candidates running for city council positions and three mayoral candidates. Two of the mayoral candidates, David DeMott and Claire Carmelia, have already served on the council for several years.
The mayor and councilmembers are part-time positions, with six councilmembers representing the entirety of the city, as a proposition to split them into wards was declined in the previous year's election.
The mayoral candidates include:
- David DeMott, an eight-year councilmember
- Claire Carmelia, a two-year councilmember
- Bruce Baker, who has not served on the council
Mayor Nancy McNally's term is coming to an end, making way for a new mayor to be elected.
