Towson University Professor Files Wrongful Termination Lawsuit
A former Towson University professor has filed a lawsuit alleging wrongful termination after reporting conflicts of interest in a faculty hiring process.
By Sarah Sternhagen, Editor-in-Chief. Brian Gorman, a tenured professor in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice, sued Towson University and several administrators and professors over his whistleblowing.
- In January 2021, Gorman reported a possible conflict of interest in the hiring process for a tenure-track faculty position.
- In April, at the final meeting to select a candidate, a professor confessed to having a professional relationship with one of the candidates.
- Gorman also submitted three other whistleblowing complaints from November.
