Hong Kong Tennis Open: Last China Players Exit as Top Seed Bencic Progresses
Zhang Shuai and Wang Yafan lost in straight sets, while Swiss No 1 Belinda Bencic continues her climb into the world top 10.
Bencic, who was ranked '913 or something' a year ago, won the Japan Open and has now marked her sixth victory in a row.
- Zhang Shuai lost to Russia's Anna Kalinskaya 6-1, 6-1.
- Wang Yafan lost to Belinda Bencic 6-2, 6-2.
"I felt good on the court," Bencic said. "I tried to play aggressively, tried to play my game, and it worked out well."
