Historic Bridge Hit by Oversized Trailer
The Robert Parker Coffin Bridge in Long Grove has been struck by a large trailer, marking at least the 69th time the bridge has been hit.
The incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. on Thursday and was partially caught on surveillance video by Neumann’s Cigars and More.
The video showed the aftermath of the hit, which involved a white pickup truck pulling a large trailer that scraped the bridge canopy.
The driver stopped the vehicle and got out after the incident. This is not the first time the bridge has been hit, with previous incidents occurring in June and May.
- In June, a box truck’s roof struck the bridge canopy, causing noticeable damage to the vehicle’s roof.
- On May 20, a box truck belonging to Northwest Trucks Inc. also hit the bridge.
