Members of the Callander Public Library Knitting Group have created a commemorative banner to honour local veterans.
The banner, measuring 77 inches long by about four feet wide, will be presented on Remembrance Day to members of Legion Branch 445.
“We saw that other Legions had done something similar, and we decided to do it ourselves.”
Lorna Ryan, a founding member of the knitting group, noted that the project felt like the right thing to do, and the group immediately got behind the cause.
Ryan emphasized,
“I’ve never missed a Remembrance Day service,”and felt this was a nice way to honour veterans.
The knitting group's effort is a heartfelt tribute to local veterans, and their poppy banner will be a meaningful addition to the Remembrance Day ceremony.
