A section of Antioch Pike was closed on Friday evening from 5 to 9 p.m. to ensure children's safety while trick-or-treating.
This safety measure comes as Chuck Isbell marks the fifth anniversary of his 13-year-old son Nate's death on Halloween night in 2020. Nate was skateboarding with friends in Rutherford County when a driver hit and killed him.
“Today’s a little bit heavier than the last couple years because it’s the five-year anniversary of what happened,”
Isbell said, expressing his grief. He has been pushing for more sidewalks and accountability for speeding drivers since the incident.
“I still can’t reconcile that, still every day I want to call him or remember I have to tell him this. I guess that’ll never go away,”
he added, reflecting on his loss.
