Ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrates reopening of Grabill Road Bridge

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held in Leo-Cedarville on Friday to celebrate the reopening of the Grabill Road Bridge.

Officials from the Allen County Board of Commissioners, Allen County Highway Department, and Town of Leo-Cedarville attended the ceremony along with community members near the St. Joseph River.

The bridge has connected the west and east banks of the river for over 100 years, serving as a vital route for communities in northeast Allen County.

The current bridge was built in 1965, but was in need of restoration. The renovation included a new bridge deck, securing the pier bases with riprap, and lining a 30-foot underground pipe to extend its lifespan.

"I want to thank everyone for a bridge well-built,"

said Commissioner Rich Beck.
