God’s Outreach Madison County Food Bank has reported a significant increase in the number of families seeking assistance due to concerns about the future of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
The food bank, which helps feed 3,500 people across Madison and Estill counties every month, has seen a notable surge in demand. According to Mandy Agee, director of the food bank,
“In just the past four days alone, we have served 527 families with food—and we expect that number to continue rising in the coming days.”
This increase reflects the community’s growing need for aid during a period of economic uncertainty.
