Cuban/South African Defence Relations Strengthened
Defence relations between Cuba and South Africa have been strengthened following a recent visit by Cuban Deputy Director for Military Industry, Brigadier General Jose A García, to the South African Defence Ministry.
García was accompanied by the Cuban ambassador to South Africa, Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo, and met with officials on 31 October to explore areas of mutual interest, including skills development, defence industry collaboration, and technical support initiatives.
The meeting, which took place at the Armscor building, was reported by Thando Ramasimong of Defence Corporate Communication (DCC).
No mention was made of Project Kgala, the successor to the first SA National Defence Force (SANDF) Cuban co-operation initiative, Project Thusano.
